ROM Patches & Game Modifications
01. DQIV DS Party Chat Hack
The DS version of Dragon Quest IV had the party chat removed for it’s western release. This patch adds that back in using text from the mobile port of the game, which did include the translated party chat text.
Since this includes all the missing text from the original DS version, this should be the definitive way to play the game.
There are two version of the patch, one for the JP ROM and one for the English ROM. Though they modify different versions of the game, the end result will be the same.
There are caveats with concrete_d’s original patching process. Character name entry will still be in Japanese. For a full list of known issues, check concrete_d’s GitHub.

02. Dragon Quest V SFC Faster Walking Patch
This hack makes it so the default walking speed is as fast as the magic carpet. I’ve included both a bps and an ips version for the heck of it since the original patch was ips.
Known bugs:
1) Cutscenes will play strangely as the hero moves faster than the game is expecting him to. He will outpace other characters. It’s possible that a cutscene could get stuck because of this, but I’m not certain. It is a good idea to save often with this patch.
2) After using the boat, magic carpet, or any other vehicle and disembarking, walking speed will be reset to it’s normal slow rate. When entering a town or dungeon it should go back to the increased speed.

Original author of the Japanese version unknown. I found this on the DQBinary page at http://dqnbinary.jp.land.to/guide/ and then converted it to work with the English translation.
03. DQV SFC 4 Party Members
This hack makes it possible to use four party members in battle. It has not been thoroughly tested. Please direct any bug reports to the Romhacking.net page or my blog at https://proquestinations.com. It was originally designed for the JP version of the game and has been converted by AustNerevar to work with the DeJap English translation. Using the original JP patch with the English Translation caused graphical artifacts with text in the stats menu. This has been fixed.
In the spirit of the original patch, I have included an IPS version.
